How bidding works at ChronoBid

Online auctions close at the displayed time in Australian timezone. Bids do not extend the clock. Price your limit with the published buyer's premium in AUD.

How to Buy
  1. Step 1

    Register to bid

Create an account and verify a card. No money is taken on register or bid — only a 5% deposit on the hammer if you win.

  2. Step 2

    Review the lot

Read the catalogue notes, photos, buyer’s premium, win deposit, and condition information before you bid.

  3. Step 3

    Place your bid

Enter a maximum you are willing to pay — or quick-bid the next minimum. The public price rises by the increment only. Bidding itself does not charge your card.

  4. Step 4

    Complete payment

If you win, the card deposit on hammer is taken, then settle the balance (hammer + buyer’s premium − deposit).

Assessment

Our watch assessment process

Before a ChronoBid lot goes live, house staff complete a basic catalogue review. We photograph the watch, compare the stated reference with what we see, note box and papers when present, and write the catalogue entry. That review is not a formal authenticity certificate, an independent watchmaker examination, or a post-purchase authenticity warranty unless the lot page says otherwise.

What is a buyer’s premium at a watch auction?

A buyer’s premium is a percentage fee the auction house charges the winning bidder on top of the hammer price. On ChronoBid, the published rate is shown on every lot before you bid, in Australian dollars.

How online watch auctions work in Australia

ChronoBid runs timed online auctions for luxury and collectible watches. Bids are in AUD. The highest accepted bid at close is the hammer, then published fees apply.

What is a reserve price at a watch auction?

A reserve is the lowest hammer price the consignor will accept. It is not always published. Bidding can sit below reserve until the floor catches up or the sale ends.
